Kiaya Abernathy is an ethereal folk chanteuse offering listeners uniquely spellbinding music and stories. A dreamy Virginia grown artist with a soulful and mystical feel. She has been writing since age 11, conjuring a wide variety of influences. Her hauntingly beautiful vocals and sultry sound will leave you enchanted.

A self produced artist until the 2023 release of ‘November Summer’. Produced by Richmond's own Steve Van Dam of the band Everything. Kiaya continues to independently release music, in addition to collaborative projects. Most recently working with Swedish artist Pontus Gustafsson.

Born in a cabin in the mountains of Rappahannock to an herbalist & a horse whisperer. Kiaya was raised in a whimsical gypsy nature within a musical family. She spent her early childhood traveling the west in an airstream. Her adolescence blossomed in the garden and in the wood. She grew up riding her horse bareback upon full moon nights, and swimming in the crystal blue springs of Old Rag Mountain. She did not attend school until she was fifteen, and would go on to graduate with distinction from the University of Virginia with a degree in Anthropology and Linguistics.

Kiaya earned her performance sea legs as a teen by singing at local gigs with her father and his band the OKs. In her 20s she played as a duet with a her father, releasing the 2014 Virginia Grown album. In 2016, they released a double album ‘Stars Shining Bright & Loon Call’ with their band Silver and Moonlight.

For the past 6 years Kiaya has made it her mission to help lift up her fellow creative creatures by showcasing stories & songs on her show Rappahannock Radio. Her slogan is “Artists Support Artists”. The show features musicians, discussions in fine art and herbalism in addition to pretty much any topic under the moon!
